“Magenta” Cartoonist Nik Guerra Interviewed By Comics Beat

“Don’t call it porno!”

Italian cartoonist Nik Guerra was profiled by comics news site Comics Beat. In an interview conducted by Alex Dueben, Nik talks about his start in comics, his inspiration for Magenta, his pin-up style and more.

Dueben writes, “It’s wonderful to discover that the comic is far less exploitive and sensational than many mainstream comics.”

In NBM’s new graphic novel, Magenta: Noir Fatale, Italian writer and artist Nik Guerra gives the oft-maligned profession a sense of beauty and dignity, using the pornographic culture as a backdrop for a 1960s murder mystery. Perhaps because it’s not trying to be cheap, but every angle, every outfit, every artistic choice is one consciously made.  It’s a thoughtful, well-constructed story which may not be for everyone, but for fans of Sin City and other dark crime stories who don’t mind that there’s more sex than violence, Magenta might be the book you’ve been waiting for.

GREAT NEWS! Comixology, the phenom in e-comics and e-book graphic novels, is starting to venture into adult comics, starting with the class act that is Omaha the Cat Dancer. You can now donwload the 1st volume for $9.99 right here.
UPDATE: Don't be fooled by the somewhat censored cover you'll see on Comixology. They still need to be discrete with that but the interior pages are all uncensored as in the book!
Also, some excellent news for you Omaha fans: we finally have all the pages in house from Reed Waller! Those pages ending the saga, 11 of them, will appear in the next issue of Sizzle, #56, out in January.
Don't miss this special occasion! Omaha finally concludes! The final volume will be out second half of next year.

Wet... In more ways than one!

I remember how funny it was trying to figure out how to add color to my pencils. It was a long and arduous task. I had to ask quite a few people for advice. One person in particular that was a great help was Christian Zanier. Although his style and approach is very different from mines, he was a really big help! I owe him a big thanks for Peanut Butter Vol. 3 and pretty much all the books that followed... Thank you Christian!
